Meet The Latin Room's
Dance Instructor
Manuela
Manuela’s dance journey began at a young age, with ballroom classes that laid the foundation for her passion and dedication to movement. Over the years, she expanded her repertoire, performing and competing in hip hop for eight years, honing her skills and developing a deep love for freestyle and urban dance. This led Manuela to become a semi-professional street jazz dancer, blending the raw energy of hip hop with the fluidity of jazz. However, her dance evolution didn't stop there.
Around 2020, she discovered the vibrant world of Latin dance, diving into Bachata and Salsa. Six months into her Bachata journey, Manuela had the opportunity to step into a student-teacher role, which accelerated her learning and deepened her understanding of the dance. Since then, she has continued to push boundaries, attending numerous festivals and learning directly from talented artists, which has allowed her to refine her technique and grow as both a dancer and instructor. Each stage of her dance career has shaped Manuela’s approach to movement, and she is continually inspired by the diversity and connection that dance brings to life.

Santiago
Santiago began his dance journey through salsa and has remained deeply rooted in the style ever since. Drawn in by the music and the structured yet social nature of salsa, he quickly connected with the way a shared love for movement creates meaningful interaction and expression on the dance floor. From the beginning, salsa became more than just a dance—it became a language.
Throughout his development, Santiago explored a variety of salsa styles while staying true to his foundations in Cuban salsa, which continue to shape his movement, musicality, and approach to partner connection. His dedication has led him to perform in both local and interstate showcases, including Tropicana and the Sydney Rueda Championships, and to compete at a high level. In 2020, he achieved a major milestone by winning team-style divisions in the pro category at Tropicana, reflecting both technical skill and strong collaborative presence.
With over five years of teaching experience, Santiago specialises in both partnered and solo salsa, emphasising the importance of individual movement alongside partner work. His teaching philosophy centres on starting with the music—finding what genuinely moves you and allowing that to guide expression. He believes that consistent hard work leads not only to excellence, but to joy, and that dancers grow best in environments built on respect, decency, and community. Through this approach, Santiago aims to create spaces where skill development and enjoyment thrive together.
